Erin Goldson
Founder of Vineyard Icon. Five generations of Goldson roots on Martha’s Vineyard.
Founding Host · Vineyard Icon
An institutional career, an island home.
Erin Goldson built Vineyard Icon as a private act of legacy stewardship. The inaugural ceremony was self-funded; the room was assembled in fewer than sixty days; the resulting institution is being built to outlast her.
Erin’s career placed her at the center of cultural campaigns that introduced the CROWN Act and Amplified Textures, the Unilever-led work that changed how Black hair is treated in American workplaces and on shelves. Before Unilever, she led on American Express Platinum and trained inside the Ogilvy culture-strategy practice. Before all of that — from sixteen years old — she worked at Black Dog and Giordano’s on the Vineyard.

We had to include hydrangeas. From the time I was sixteen working at Black Dog and Giordano’s. I wanted you to walk in and feel like this place was iconic. I wanted everyone in the room to be an icon and feel like an icon, and leave thinking about what makes them iconic.Erin Goldson, in interviews with Forbes, Ebony, and the Martha’s Vineyard Times
The Founding Host is a permanent ceremonial title.
Operational authority is built to transfer. The Founding Host’s role is to host, to ratify, and to hold the Vineyard Icon Method intact across generations of operators. It is not Erin Goldson’s event; it is the institution that Erin Goldson founded.
Note for press & partners: Erin Goldson did not attend Howard University. The Howard reference common to early circulating bios reflects her father’s career at Howard University Hospital. Erin’s degrees are from the University of Virginia and Columbia Business School, with a semester at Spelman College.
